Come and Rejuvenate Yourself at my Salon
At his exclusive salon studio for his private clients, George Buckner, Creative Director of Hair Fashions East in New York City believes that healthy hair is essential to feeling confident and looking great. "Clean hair, well-conditioned on a regular basis is critical" says Buckner, who constantly educates his clients on the fundamentals of good hair and skin care. Buckner adds “that wearing a fabulous cut and style might make you happy, but it means nothing if flaky, brittle, and lifeless hair can ruin the effect."
Buckner is highly regarded for his expertise in damaged hair and skin repair. His hair care services rebuild and protect delicate hair from chemical relaxers, coloring, and a variety of styling products. His skin-saving facials remove irritants that ordinary cleansers leave behind. Buckner has always been fascinated by theories of hair and skin health. This passion has motivated Buckner to work and study in France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the United States, cultivating his artistic techniques while testing hair and skin care products used across the globe.
"Although hair textures range from straight to kinky, any type of hair that is over processed is very delicate. I combine products and treatments designed to revitalize and maintain healthy hair with state-of-the-art hair repair methods”.
Buckner founded Hair Fashion East in 1970, motivated to provide an innovative salon experience for all women regardless of their ethnicity. Well into the 21st Century, Buckner still caters to a multi-generation professional clientele.
Over the years, his editorial work, hair and skin care advice have appeared in premier fashion, beauty and lifestyle publications such as Essence, Harper's Bazaar, and Modern Salon. Buckner has also been featured in two books namely Total Makeover: Body, Beauty, Spirit by Patricia M. Hinds and Self Seduction: Your Ultimate Path to Inner and Outer Beauty by Mikki Taylor, the fabulous former Essence beauty editor. Buckner has also presented and lectured about hair and skin care at numerous women's conferences and industry trade show seminars including The Essence Women Shaping the World Conference.
Highly regarded for his innovative hair care solutions and personalized approach to hair styling, Buckner has received many international and national awards, including two gold medals at the Women's Hairstyling Festival in Birmingham, England and the Image Maker Award from the Association of Black Charities in New York City. Respected by his peers, Buckner has served as an educator for Nioxin Research Laboratories and was the President of the Société Francaise de Biosthetique USA section for four years.
Buckner has worked closely with the New York City School of Career Development teaching classes and establishing co-op and internship programs at his salon. He sat on the Advisory Council for Career and Technical Education, New York City Department of Education.
His philosophy on what progressive and comprehensive beauty and hair care education should include is “Train young up-and-coming beauty and hair professionals to provide stellar customer service and keep their future clients' hair and skin healthy and beautiful.” That's the winning formula that has kept George Buckner at the top of his game for more than four decades.
